Those who advise on life assurance, pensions or Unit Trust products are

Independent Advisers
OR 
Representatives of one Company

Your Adviser is independent and will act on your behalf in advising you on life assurance, pensions or Unit Trust products. 
Because your Adviser is independent, he or she can advise you on the products of different Companies.

  1. CJR Associates is a member of the I F A Network Limited. I F A Network Limited and is authorised to act as an Investment Adviser and Life Assurance, Unit Trust and Pension Intermediary, and arrange the purchase or sale of readily realisable securities through a member of the Securities and Futures Authority, and is bound by the rules of the PIA.

    1. We can advise on and arrange products. If you make a valid claim against us in respect of these investments which we have arranged for you and we are unable to meet our liabilities in full, you may be entitled to redress from the Investors Compensation Scheme; details will be provided on request.
    2. We can also advise on regulated products which are not regulated under the Financial Services Act. THE INVESTORS COMPENSATION SCHEME DOES NOT APPLY TO THESE PRODUCTS.
  2. We offer independent advice. We are not tied to any one insurance company and we are therefore able survey the whole market in order to fund the most suitable product for you. If an occasion arises where we or one of our other clients has an interest, or we become aware of such interests in the business we are arranging for you which may conflict with yours, we will write to you to inform you and obtain your consent before we carry out your instructions.
  3. We normally ask you to give us instructions in writing, to avoid possible disputes. However, we will accept oral instructions provided they are subsequently confirmed in writing.
  4. When we have arranged any investments for which you have given us instructions, we will not give you further advice unless you request it, but we will be glad to advise you at any time you ask us to do so.
  5. You, or we, may terminate authority to act on your behalf at any time without penalty. Notice of this termination must be given in writing.
  6. We derive income from commission paid to us by Life Assurance and Unit Trust Managers with which investments are made. You will receive from the Life Office or operators in question, or from us, information payable to us on a life policy or pension contract and, if you ask us, on any other investment we have arranged for you.
    If we receive a commission other form of benefit from the issuer of a security or from another intermediary, we will inform you but we will not tell you its amount unless you ask us to do so.
    There are occasions where we charge fees to clients and these are always agreed in advance and are subject to a separate signed Client Agreement. We will send you a note of our charges. They may be settled by cheque or by written instruction for collection from the funds we are holding for you.
  7. There are occasions where we act as Agent for a Stockbroker, who will always be a member of the Securities and Futures Authority.
  8. We act as your Agent in advising you and arranging investments. We never own the investments which you buy through us.
  9. We are not authorised to handle clients’ monies. All cheques for premiums or investment monies of any kind must be made payable to the Life Office or Investment Company.
  10. All investments will be registered in your name unless you first agree otherwise in writing.
  11. We will account to you at least annually for income received on you investments.
  12. We will forward all Contract Notes and Documents of Title in respect of investments to you as soon as practicable after we receive them, Where a number of documents relating to a series of transactions is involved, we will normally hold the documents until the series is complete, when we will forward them to you.
  13. If you wish, you may instruct us to retain Documents of Title indefinitely. If you do this, we will keep them in out safe facility and appropriate entries will be made in the Document Register maintained under Personal Investments Authority rules.
  14. We keep records of all your business transactions for at least six years. You (or your Agents) may inspect Contract Notes, Vouchers and entries in books or computerised records. We treat all clients’ records as confidential, though we reserve the right to give you copies of your particular record rather than allow access to files containing records about other clients.
  15. We maintain Professional Indemnity Insurance Cover.
